Making

• 2 stiff rods (steel, brass or copper wire, 3 to 4 mm), about 40 cm each.
• A right-angle bend 12 cm from one end: the handle.
• A small tube around the handle so that the rod turns freely.

Holding

• One handle in each fist, without gripping, long arms pointing ahead.
• Elbows close to the body, forearms horizontal, walk slowly.

Blind test

1. Another person hides an object under one of 10 boxes.
2. You choose with the rods, without knowing which. 10 trials.
3. Chance: about 1 right choice in 10. Clearly more? Do it again to confirm.
